As part of the Farewill online journey, you’ll see an option to make a 'couples' will at a discounted rate.
Often, couples will choose to leave everything to their partner and, if they have them, their children, so they make identical wills. These are sometimes called ‘mirror wills’ – a pair of two identical wills with the same wishes.
We believe that couples wills – two, completely separate wills – are a much better choice. They give you the freedom to mirror your wishes where you like and you’ll be able to keep some differences too.
How to make a couples will
When you start to make a will, you'll be asked if your partner wants to make a will too.
If you answer yes you will be asked to:
- open an account
- provide the name and email address of your partner – so we can send them an email inviting them to open a Farewill account
To make sure the accounts are linked, your partner must click the link in the email to open an account before you complete and pay for the wills.
This is what you need to know about making a couples will:
- you each need to complete an online will questionnaire
- you each make your own will which can mirror your partner’s and include independent wishes
The person who opens an account first will pay for the will on behalf of them both.
