From the 14th of September 2019 there will be some important EU-wide changes to the way people pay for goods and services online. For Farewill customers that means the way you confirm the payment for your will and your update service.
The changes are called Strong Customer Authentication, or SCA, which aims to improve security online and reduce fraudulent payments.
Under SCA you may be asked to confirm your identity when you purchase anything online. The exact way you’ll be asked to confirm your identity depends on the bank that you use, but in general you will see a pop up asking you to either enter a number from a text message from your bank, or confirm the payment in your bank’s mobile app.
Depending on your bank you may see these changes as soon as 14th September 2019 but the FCA are giving banks up to March 2021 to implement these changes.
If you have any questions about SCA or online payments you should speak directly to your bank.
